Sabrina Hendricks, Therapist
I was born in New York City and lived in the Bronx all my life. My ethnic background is African American; my parents lived in New York City all of their lives, as well.
I attended New Rochelle College in the Bronx Campus. I graduated in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Science. I also attended grad school at Alfred University and obtained a master’s degree in Science and Education Counseling.
I have been involved in case management since my employment with Hotel Trades Council (20+ years), as well as being an experienced patient advocate.
I have worked with a lot of different ethnic backgrounds, not just one in particular. My significant efforts are aimed at addressing some of the difficult challenges and conducting in-depth research within the field of counseling, while putting focus on the issue of the client; using skills and strategies that will help minimize the suffering and bad feelings of the client. In essence, I would like to work in my community, helping African Americans on all levels.
My parents always taught me to treat people the same way that I would like to be treated and if any negativity is directed towards me, ignore it.
I was trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and supportive psychotherapy. My experiences dealing with clients that I have worked with, they feel that I am a very good listener with exceptional understanding. My initial thought is to get to know the client and empower them to overcome their mental health issues, if any; as well as helping them with their wellness, education, and career goals, while learning to be a great therapist along the way.
The one unique thing about me is that I love to watch lifetime movies on Sundays.
