I was born in Brooklyn, NewYork. My parents are my #1 fans!!
I’m American, Chinese and Trinidadian. I attended undergrad at Long Island University Brooklyn. I did my first year at C.W. Post then transferred. I currently attend graduate studies at Long Island University Brooklyn. I am in the accelerated Masters program for Social Work and will be graduating December 2022.
I went into Social Work due to a personal experience I had during my youth. In the midst of this journey, I met a social worker named Kim from Elizabeth Seten Pediatrics who assisted from day one when my sister was admitted as a patient to their hospital. Beginning to end, she never left. That meant a great deal to my family and I.
I currently work with Northwell Health as Clinical Research Coordinator working with the postnatal population. Before that, I lived in Charlotte North Carolina for 4 years as an Applied Behavioral Analysis therapist working with Autistic children.
I do this work because it’s important to me, my clients are part of my world, my community, my family. It is important to support those within my community because sticking together is what we need to do.
When dealing with racism in the past, I have worked to educate others. I provided facts, educated this individual and explained my boundaries. That experience was more fuel to the fire that ignited me in wanting to become a Social Worker & pursue my goal. Nothing. I wouldn’t change anything about it honestly. I’m happy it happened the exact way it did or else I would not be here.
I am still learning clinically and my goal is to provide trust with my clients. To show that I’m all ears and here to support you on this journey. We will climb this mountain together!
I’m left-handed like Obama !!!
